Supplemental coverageOwensboro and Daviess County

Coverage that pays you, not the hospital, after a covered diagnosis.

Cancer, heart attack and stroke policies and hospital indemnity plans pay benefits you decide how to use: a deductible, copays, the mortgage while you recover, or gas and a hotel for treatment out of town. In most of these policies the benefit goes straight to you. I explain exactly what a policy pays and what it does not.

Read the fine print with me

  • Waiting periodsMany policies do not pay for a diagnosis made in the first days or months.
  • Pre-existing conditionsA policy can exclude conditions treated before it started.
  • What triggers a benefitA diagnosis, a hospital admission, or each day in the hospital.
  • Age and premium changesWhether the benefit or the premium changes as you get older.
  • RenewabilityWhether the company can cancel your policy, or raise premiums for everyone who has it.
Questions

Before you call

Is this health insurance?

No. These are supplemental, limited benefit policies that pay set amounts for specific events. They work alongside health insurance or Medicare and do not replace either one.

Will a policy cover a condition I already have?

Usually not. Waiting periods and pre-existing condition rules vary by policy, so we go over them before you apply.

Does it cost anything to talk it through?

No. There is no cost and no obligation to buy.
